Celebrating Love

"The greatest gift of all is LOVE"

The mantra of any relationship, love is the seed that will blossom into greater things. The same word that brings so much meanings and emotions, it's love that brings 2 people together, and it's the same word that brings to the rise of our nation. Love for the family, love for the community, and love for the country- blooming to what we have today.

This month we celebrate love, the one word so easily used, yet so profound in definition. For a couple in love, the letter "M" brings their relationship to a whole new level:

Marriage

Tying 2 people together, the register of a marriage is usually a solemn process where couples pledge their love and faith, strongly bonded by the words of law. In Singapore, a building located in Fort Canning stands to witness hundreds of couples in love tying the knot daily. The Registry of Marriage is located at 7 Canning Rise, amidst the lush greens of Fort Canning Park.

Fort Canning Park

Once known as the "Forbidden Hill", the Fort Canning park served as Sir Stamford's first residential area, and as the colony's governors in the early 1800s. Under the British Army, the hill also served as the headquarter of the Singapore Base District, until it was overtaken by the Japanese during World War Two.

As a military base, the Gates of Fort Canning was essential then for the safeguard of the large amount of weapons and guns kept at the fort.

Fort Canning Park today is under the National Parks Board, and serves as a great venue for recreational activities, offering educational, historical, cultural and arts activities. Much love to this little hill of ours with so much story to tell...
