The Orient Charm
There’s so much we love from the orient flare. A symbol of virtue, grace, and elegance; the juxtaposition of traditions and modernity that keep brides-to-be constantly seeking after it for their wedding day. If you’re one that can’t fathom the beauty of it, or may even find it somewhat “traditional”, we have a couple of brides here (real life!) that pulled of such elegance in the most youthful, modern way.
Jasmine + Julian
Jasmine’s choice of a mermaid gown was not white, but textured appliqués of silver and blue guipure lace, which simply added a bold statement to an otherwise white bridal gown. With a detachable train that came off during parts of the wedding ceremony, this wedding gown- with it’s functionality, was truly a sight to behold.
Cecilia + Aaron
While a mandarin collar on a full lace gown may sometimes feel a little “stuffy”, Cecilia’s choice of a delicate chantily lace lined with a semi sheer fabric not only adds softness to the look, it is also super comfy and light-weight too (she’ll tell you!). The oriental touch takes on a refreshing take in an asymmetrical manner with three dimensional appliques, binding seamlessly into a well refined classic design… Mega love!
Junxi + How Kiat
Having a cheongsam as a wedding gown may not be something that most brides will dream of. After all, a tight fitted silhouette with high collar may sound a little rigid for a young bride’s liking. But when designed with a flare skirt, the perfect combination of a “east meets west” modernises the traditional cut, bringing an angelic flare to the style. Especially stunning with the one-shoulder design that wraps delicately around the neckline.
Jasmine + Kian Meng
What we absolutely love most about this gown is how a classic duchess satin mermaid gown is crafted seamlessly with a mandarin collar, exuding an air of clean-cut modernity. Not to mention how we adore Jasmine’s spunky haircut, which gave the traditionally demure style a brand new edge!
Sophia + Gary
Sophia, with her petite frame, looked ravishing in her choice of an oriental slim fitted gown. With a halter neckline and a structured collar that hugged gently around her collarbone, this style enhanced the length of Sophia’s frame, giving her a dignified and elegant look. One that fits the bill of sophistication in our modern age.
Tiffanie + Kexin
If a long piece is not your take, opt for a short bridal version of a cheongsam. Like what Tiffanie did, a custom short white cheongsam does the trick as a reception + after party dress! Consider a splash of coloured details to really bring out your style, and elevate the interest of a white dress.
LiHan + Makoto
Li Han’s choice of dove blue + bronze + silver clearly accentuated the bride’s character. In a subtle sweet and regal manner, the gently tailored mermaid cut in pastel hues was not only soothing to the eyes, but also pleased the crowd (elderlies especially!) with its oriental touch in intricate details and light beadings. At the same time, wonderful for that touch of “something blue”!
Yumin + Josh
If you’re up for a little fun, consider what Yumin went with us on her wedding day! A two-piece (cheongsam top + skirt) assemble that can be worn separately after the wedding day makes the whole wedding experience even more worthwhile. Did we also mention there’s pockets on the skirt? Talk about functionality!
Jocelyn + Kelvin
Jocelyn’s take on her modern cheongsam came with a touch of youth and glamour. With a mix of pastel hues placed against a sensual nude lace with rose gold sparkles, we simply loved how this combination is topped off with fairy-like soft tulle skirt! Made complete with equally modern jade accessories from Choo Yilin, Jocelyn nailed what we call a perfect fusion of east meets west.
Cheryl + Roland
Under the starry lights of Chijmes, Cheryl’s oriental inspired evening gown sparkled in the most gorgeous champagne rose gold. Layered with layers of soft tulle, and embellished with intricate beading and three dimensional appliques, the subtle touch of an orient charm came on in a closer look… perfect for the young, subtle, and elegant bride.
