How to take your measurements
Taking your basic measurements can be easily done with the necessary tools, and following simple steps.
If you’re shopping for your gown on our E-Store, this simple guide below will help you achieve a close fit.
What do I need?
A full length mirror
A soft measuring tape
Dressed in a fitted clothing (ideally in the right undergarment/ shapewear you are planning to wear with your gown)
A friend/ sister to do the measuring for you
What do I do?
Stand in front of the mirror with your chest upright.
When taking measurements, make sure the tape is flat against your body. Do not pull it way too tightly, or leave too much slack.
For bust, waist, and hips measurements, make sure your measuring tape is levelled all round to the ground. This is important for an accurate measurement.
For front length measurement, measure from your waist down to the ground (we recommend you to put on a pair of heels you’re planning to wear with your gown to ensure an accurate measurement). Make sure your measuring tape is held perpendicular to the ground, skewing it to one side will affect the overall measurement. As a general guide, the hem of your gown (front length) should, touch the ground briefly, or rest around 1 inch about ground level to facilitate walking.
After your measurements are taken, compare them to the sizing stated in the individual design.
For A-line or ballgown designs, focus more on the bust and hips measurements. For mermaid designs, we recommend considering if your largest measurement (bust, waist, or hips) fits the measurements stated. Do take in mind that it is always easier to alter down a size then to alter up.
